What's all the 'seemingly' commotion about a poem 'must' ryhme?

It's pretty silly, and a reflection of how many kids are on here. There have been non-rhyming poems for as long as there has been poetry. In fact, you would have a hard time publishing a poem that rhymed these days. It seems old-fashioned and juvenile. As to structure, there are very few rules anymore, unless you deliberately set out to write a haiku or sonnet or something that does have a prescribed structure. Let your creativity flow, and ignore the critics.

Because something is overused, does it mean you can't write about it?

I like werewolves and have been wanting to write a fantasy book (or series) about them for a while. They are nowhere near as close to being as overused as vampires, but people still say that they've seen more of werewolves than they can handle. When I try using witches, faeries, genies, dragons, japanese mythical creatures, etc. it doesn't work. Nothing comes to me. So my question is this: even if werewolves are overused, is it still okay to write about them? Will people still read it? I have no intention of writing another werewolf paranormal romance, putting my characters in high school, or putting them in the midst of a vampire-werewolf feud. In fact, vampires will be extinct in my story and the werewolves will be more like "wolf gods" (think Holo from Spice and Wolf) than traditional werewolves.

Three toed footprint?

Me and my friend were out in are yard this morning and it had been snowing quite heavily. At the boot of our car we beheld a three toed footprint about one third of a foot long, with three toes about two centimeters apart from each other with one two centimeters in front of the other two, they were all arranged in a kind of arc. about a third of a foot back there was another mark. All these marks were circular in shape. The footprints continued at about half a meter intervals and then stopped when the snow ran out. Does anyone know what this could be apart from a dinosaur?

Ariston boiler query?

My hot water pipe coming from my Genus Ariston boiler and leading to my underfloor heating system goes hot for a short burst, then lukewarm again, then hot etc. Whilst this happening the boiler is still fired, it's not cutting out then in again. The hot water for the shower and taps etc is always perfect, no problems there. But it's just the heating circuit, my floor never seems to get any hotter than mildly lukewarm, where-as it used to go nice and warm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Atheists, what are some good books on evolution?

I really liked The Ancestor's Tale. I'm not just saying that because we're 'supposed' to like Richard Dawkins, it's a really enjoyable book. It's also written for a general audience with an interest in evolution and/or natural history, so you don't need to be a science geek like me to be able to understand it- Dawkins is very good at using ogies to explain the more difficult concepts and he starts right at the beginning with pretty much everything he writes about. The Ancestor's Tale also has wonderful pictures.

Mould in a finch bird-feeder?

I had a bird-feeder up with finch seed and holes for finch seed, and i hardly ever got any birds, but half the seed sprouted and turned mouldy. is there any way besides taking the feeder down when it rains (since if it starts when i go to work or at night i can never be sure). I have a 33 year old daughter and a granddaughter 6 months.?

I have bipolar with auditory hallucinations (hearing voices). I spend a couple of nites at my daughter's apt. and when I was in the guestroom I heard my son-in-law and my daughter talking about me. These were not the voices I hear in my head, they were just down the hall. My son-in-law kept saying horrible things about me, like "she has terrible table manners and she's all hunched over eating", "I don't want her meeting my family, my friends, etc. All my daughter said was "you are just saying that because she said your father was arrogant" and he answered "that's part of it". Other more horrible things were said and I couldn't breathe so I left around 4:00 a.m. I had to go down a steep staircase and I fell down twice plus my luggage alone went "clump, clump, clump. They only have two neighbors in their complex, but they both came out and helped me out and close the garage after me. My daughter waited another day to call me. She said that I was hearing voices that it was not her husband or her. And she said "I guess we're heavy sleepers", when I said that her neighbor came out. My daughter is feeding every 3 to 4 hours so she wasn't asleep. She said "we didn't hear a peep". Then she asked me what did the neighbors look like and she said they are not our neighbors; when she had once introduced me to them. She said the people I saw did not exist. We have being on a battle of wills. I told that I did not hear their voices after I left, all I heard were my own voices which I recognize. This happen about a month and 1/2 ago and there has only being a battle of wills; she keeps denying it was them and all I wanted to do is talk to her about why would I say that if it wasn't true. She has not e-mail or called in a month. Understand, I never felt comfortable there at any time, it was my gut something was off. I ignored my gut feelings and my son-in-law said those things so loud that I believe he wanted me to hear him. I can't believe my daughter is using my bipolar disorder against me. I told a friend and she said, those were real, not "your voices". I have e-mail and e-mail but no responses. I am so hurt I don't know what to do. The disrespect alone pained me and of course my self-esteem and confidence took quite a beating. I still feel raw inside.

A neat experiment is to take 500 ml of Isopropyl Alcohol, and 500 ml of tap water, mix them in a 1000 ml grauated cylinder, stir occasionaly and watch the water level drop. The Alcohol breaks up the Hydrogen bonds and releases the trapped air, you will see all the tiny air bubbles in the solution. Well there you go!!!!

My husband was hit by a truck and state trooper ruled it the truck driver's fault. The owner of the trucking company wanted to pay my husband instead of filing with insurance. We have been advised by several people to not do this. We were told by the garage owner that we took car to have checked out that we should file a claim with the owner's ins. and if they did not offer us enough we had the right to refuse the offer and demand the car be restored back to the condition it was in before the wreck since it was ruled his driver's fault. The owner of the truck offered us $1000 for the car. The repairs will be around $2000. We do not have the money to buy another car and this is my husband's means of getting to and from work. I've had a weird relationship with my father as well. He is an alcoholic, my mom left him because of him being abusive and the drinking. He has been so mean to us through out the years. Especially to me, I'm the middle child and both parents has always favored my older and younger sisters, so i've always been a little distant. I never felt comfortable talking to them about personal things and such. Anyways, he would call me a and accuse my younger sister and I of stealing money from him on multiple occasions. All because of the alcohol. We'd go months without seeing him and then he'd cry and complain to other people saying he misses us and all this and that so we'd go down to see him. We kept trying and he always acted oblivious to the way he had treated us, as if they alcohol was his excuse for forgetting what he had done to us. Now that I'm older I call him on occasion and try to see him on holiday's and such. I just figure I'll be the better person and if anything was to happen to him, I won't regret not trying to have a relationship with him no matter how vile he is. I don't like them! How do I tell them that after what happened?

I got a "dare list" and it said for me to go ask out all of the skaters. Well, at my school the skaters are the crap, they wear the pants if they tell you to jump you'd better jump and no girl ever, ever says no to them. Anyway, I dated a skater but I left him because I no longer liked him and I wanted to be single. Then he made my depression worse and I started cutting again and so on. Any way, back to the dare thing. So, I walked over to their skating area with dignity and asked a group of them out reading off my other dares to them. Well, my ex was like "Why is it always me?" I told him it's because we still have fans of our couple and he was about to say yes then, his friend said "No, we don't want to go out with you, you're to ugly and we don't date emos anyway." So I was offended because the skaters have always hated me because I don't treat them like god, I treat them like dirt and treat the nerds (who need it) like god. Then another skater said "Hey, [name here], [my name here] has a dare to cuss you out!" So I didn't say anything and ended up getting cussed out by him because he used to bully me until I turned him in. Then the guy who cussed me out left and then I heard something extremely offensive along the lines of "She f*cking qu**fed." I never slept with any of them and I found that use of words embaressing so I inched away embaressed. And now, knowing the skaters, they're going to tell the whole school that I like them but I don't. It's pure hatred between us. I know this is stupid to be embarressed over so I just need some help. We must love our selves our the good points as well as the 'bad'. You can't truly be refusing your illness if you are doing something to help your illness. I have MS, I am doing everything I can to make sure am doing right by helping slowying down what may happen. But I tell myself daily that today is going to be a great day, that I am fine and that my MS is 'dead', quite, I have to keep it as part of who I am but its a small tiny part of who I am. I am a female, I am 25, I am a daughter, a sister, a girlfriend, a friend, a writer, a lover of books, a lover of movies, and a day-dreamer to name a few somewere down in the hundereds is a person with MS, but it still makes up the whole of who I am, and I love myself just as I am.

My cat just threw up? :(?

It was very strange. 20 minutes ago, my cat and I were resting on my bed and she was purring and snuggled up against me. About 5 minutes afterward, she jumped off my bed and vomited a couple times. then she wandered off into the hallway. As I cleaned up her vomit I noticed the undigested chunks of the friskies I had given her last night. Afterwards I went to grab her, to see if she was alright, petted her a few times, and to my surprise found her purring. She then proceded to rub her head against me several times and followed me to my bed, where even now she is still purring. this is the second time this has happened. The first being 4 days ago. She doesn't appear to be in pain. In fact after she vomited she had a drink of water. But still these vomiting spouts occurred so close to each other, I'm worried that it may be something worse. Right now she's five years old and she is strictly an indoor cat (she has never been outside). She is also up to date on all of her shots. My theory is that maybe the friskies I gave her went bad? I put it on a plate and she usually eats it as she likes, but not all at once. In the winter it's okay because the house is usually pretty cold, but could the summer heat cause the friskies to spoil? I'm kind of worried right now. What do you think about it?

Very small winged bugs brought in with woodpile?

These bugs are so small you can barely see them. Its still pretty cold here in Pa , so I take they were brought in with the woodpile. I'm a 9th grader and I know what you are talking about. Those words are used day in and day out. I hear them everyday at school. I guess you can try to talk to them and tell them that those words are unacceptable to be used in that kind of manner. If the students have any type of respect or any maturity within themselves, they will stop. I can't promise that they will stop because like the person above me said, kids are kids, and they might just take it as a joke and move on with their day. Good luck.

There is this girl I have liked since the beginning of the school year. I like her a lot because she is completely my type and she is very attractive.
