What do you think about crocodiles, alligators, and caymans?
I don't believe that it is legal to own one of these guys in the U.S. without a permit. If you manage to get a permit however you need to convert a large room to a shallow indoor pond, heat the pond and the room, and be ready to gather a small group of men every time you walked into the enclosure. Cayman are the smallest but are still easily able to take you down as their next meal. This species is best left to the professionals. If you want a large lizard look into monitor species, but even these guys can be hard to handle once they get larger.
