Pendulum Question? Please help!?
Several things have to be considered. First if we ignore friction, the and the ball does not change size, nothing will change. Frequency of a pendulum is bases on its length. If one considers friction then we look at the pendulum having momentum. As it loses water, it loses m, and therefore momentum. Friction can now play a more significant role in slowing the pendulum. In the later case the pendulum that has a full load of water and is not leaking will swing longer but not change frequency. The pendulum that loses water will not maintain its magnitude but its frequency will be unchanged until friction stops it comepletely.
